Editorial Policy
Acta Zoologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae publishes original works in the fields of animal taxonomy and systematics, zoogeography, animal ecology and behaviour, population biology, biodiversity studies and nature conservation problems of international interest. Publishing short communication, check list, catalogue or new species for a given area is not in focus our publishing policy. This journal is a fairly rapid (average time from submission to publishing was about 10 months in the last decade). Acta Zoologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae is published quarterly in four issues in February, May, August and November.

Acta Zoologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae is a single blind peer reviewed journal. Two (or three) experts of the field are asked for revision, their comments are forwarded to the corresponding author anonymously. After Review Request, reviewers have typically 4 weeks for their judgment. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor makes a decision and lists the necessary amendments.
Manuscripts must be solely the work of the author(s) stated, must not have been previously published elsewhere, and must not be under consideration by another journal. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The authors retain copyright and publishing rights without restrictions of papers published in Acta Zoologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae.
Plagiarism and ethics policy
All articles are supposed to be original. Authors submitting a manuscript have to declare in the cover letter that the submitted manuscript is an original work, none of the material in the paper has been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere, and no piece of the manuscript is plagiarised from other published material, including his/her own document (see Instructions to authors). As a rule, statement of the corresponding author is regarded as valid. If plagiarism is suspected by editors or reviewers, the manuscript will be checked with a plagiarism detection software by the Editor-in-Chief. Plagiarism is stated if more than 5% of the sentences in the manuscript are copy-paste from other published material. If plagiarism is detected authors may be banned from submissions for a specified time period.
We follow the COPE (Committee on Publications Ethics) recommendations during the whole publication processes. Corresponding author should declare in the cover letter that all appropriate ethics and other approvals were obtained for the research.
A manuscript submitted by an editor, is handled by other one during the full reviewing process. Decision about acceptance will be made also by the other editor. Similarly, if the author and editor are working at the same institution, and other editor who is not at that institution will select referees and made decision on the manuscript. Referees are requested to declare that there is no conflict of interest with any of the authors.
